Repair of the eardrum
The eardrum is a thin membrane that separates the outer ear from the middle ear. It plays an important role in hearing and protects the middle ear from dirt, water and infection. A small hole or tear in the eardrum often heals on it's own, but sometimes surgical repair is needed. This operation is also called a myringoplasty.

Implantable defibrillator
An implantable defibrillator is a small electronic device that is placed under the skin, usually below the collarbone. It constantly monitors the heart rhythm and intervenes if a life-threatening rhythm disorder occurs. In this way, the device protects you from serious heart rhythm disorders that could lead to sudden death.

Implantable loop recorder
An implantable loop recorder is a small device, about the size of a USB stick that is placed under the skin of your chest to record your heart rhythm over a long period of time. It helps your doctor detect hearth rhythm problems that only occur from time to time and may therefore not be picked up during a standard cardiac ultrasound (ECG) or short monitoring in hospital.
