A thyroglossal cyst is a benign mucus cyst in the middle of the neck. It usually develops before birth, during the formation of the thyroid. The cyst is filled with mucus and may slowly increase in size. Sometimes it becomes inflamed or causes difficulties with swallowing or speaking.

A branchial cyst is a congenital, benign cyst that usually occurs in the neck. The cyst develops due to incomplete formation during the embryonic stage. Sometimes the cyst becomes inflamed or infected.

A lymph node biopsy is a procedure in which one or more lymph nodes in the neck are removed or partly examined. This is done when a lymph node is enlarged or when the cause of the swelling is unclear. The biopsy helps to establish the correct diagnosis.

Ear tubes are tiny tubes inserted into the eardrum to treat problems in the middle ear. They are often used in case of recurring ear infections or persistent fluid build-up behind the eardrum, which can cause hearing loss. This procedure is mainly carried out in young children, but can also be done in adults.

A tracheostomy is an operation in which an opening is made in the windpipe (trachea). Through this opening, a tube (cannula) can be inserted to support breathing.
