Brow lift (cosmetic)
What does a brow lift do?
A brow lift fixes a low or asymmetrical eyebrow. Lifting the brow also reduces wrinkles and the tired look around your eyes.
Preparing for the procedure
During the consultation, the surgeon will discuss your medical history and carry out a physical examination. It is important to mention any medication or supplements you are taking, as some may need to be stopped temporarily before the procedure.
The surgeon will assess your face and take photographs to clearly determine which areas can be treated.
How is the procedure performed?
A brow lift is carried out under local anaesthesia with sedation, but you may also choose for general anaesthesia. Through small incisions (often just behind the hairline or in the natural crease of the forehead), the skin and underlying tissue are lifted and secured in a higher position.
This results in a subtle lift of the eyebrows, giving the upper part of the face a fresher appearance.
Recovery and aftercare
After the procedure, you may experience swelling, bruising and a feeling of tightness in the forehead. These symptoms usually resolve within a few days to weeks. In the first few days, it is best to sleep with your head slightly elevated and to avoid strenuous activity. Avoid direct sunlight during the healing process.
Possible complications
Every surgical procedure carries a risk of complications such as bleeding or infection. After a brow lift, you may experience swelling, bruising, numbness of the forehead, asymmetry of the eyebrow and scar formation.
Result
The results are usually visible quickly and the effects often last for several years.
