With an NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance), we image the abdomen (or abdominal organs such as the pancreas, liver, kidneys ...) by means of a magnetic field and radio waves. Thus, we obtain 3D images of the inside of the body: disc images in three dimensions. No X-rays are used in an NMR examination. The examination can be considered harmless.

In a CT (computer tomography) scan, we form an image of the brain using X-rays. The scanner makes sections of the brain.
