Relaxation room

Patients with a cancer-related condition are welcome to visit our relaxation room for a rebalancing massage during or after their treatment. A range of massage options are available, so you can choose what best suits your needs at that moment.

What is a rebalancing massage?

A volunteer professional care therapist gives you the opportunity to unwind, let go of your worries and enjoy a moment entirely for yourself. These relaxing sessions support your general wellbeing and can be scheduled at any stage of your illness.

A rebalancing massage is a special form of massage. It involves gentle, rhythmic and attentive touch to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, helping to promote deep relaxation, calm and recovery. The massage technique does not put pressure on the blood or lymphatic systems.

These massages are not a substitute for regular medical care. If you need medical, psychological or other support, please contact your treating team.

Practical information

Thanks to the support of several sponsors, these sessions are completely free of charge. Each patient can enjoy three relaxation sessions during their treatment. Are you staying in the hospital and unable to come to the relaxation room? In that case, the volunteer care therapist can also provide the session at your bedside or while you are seated in a chair. These sessions do not count towards the three free sessions.

Would you like to book a relaxation session? If so, please get in touch with one of our oncocoaches.

Available Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.

Would you like to become one of our care therapists?

To continue offering our patients these moments of relaxation, we are looking for volunteer care therapists who would like to provide massages in our relaxation room.

Do you have at least a diploma in rebalancing massage (Syntra) and would you like to volunteer your knowledge and experience to support patients with cancer? In that case we would love to hear from you.

Interested?
