Colpocystodefaecography (pelvic floor for urinary and bowel movement problems)

This is an examination to evaluate the function of the pelvic floor in urinary and bowel movement problems (incontinence, constipation, collapses...).

Course of the examination

  • The nurse places a bladder probe (sonde). Through that probe we fill the bladder with contrast fluid.
  • We also fill the vagina with contrast fluid.
  • Through a rectal probe we insert a thick juice of barium.
  • Then a number of images are taken while at rest and while applying pressure. This pressure gives the radiologist a view of any bladder prolapse or prolapse.

The radiologist who performed the examination makes an initial interpretation of the images during the examination. After the final interpretation, he sends a report to the doctor who requested the examination. Only this doctor can discuss the results with you.

This examination is only possible by appointment. Please always bring your identity card and the request from your doctor.

You must register in advance at the registration desk in the central entrance hall.
