Thigh lift

A thigh lift is a procedure performed to firm and tighten the skin in the thigh area.

Why choose a thigh lift?

A thigh lift is intended for people who have excess, loose skin on the upper legs that does not disappear with diet or exercise. This often concerns excess skin after a significant weight loss or natural skin laxity due to ageing. The aim of the procedure is not to lose weight, but to improve the contour of the legs.

How does the procedure work?

Depending on your situation, a classic thigh lift or liposuction may be performed.

  • Classic thigh lift: in a classic thigh lift, the excess skin on the inside of the thighs is removed. After the procedure, there will be a scar along the inside of the entire upper leg, from the knee to the groin crease.
  • Liposuction: during liposuction, excess fat is removed from the inner or outer thighs and around the knees. With liposuction, the incisions are limited to a few scars of only a few millimetres.

Every surgical procedure carries a risk of complications such as bleeding, infection or wound healing problems.

After a thigh lift, there are some additional points you should be aware of:

  • The scar from a thigh lift is visible when wearing clothing that exposes the upper legs.
  • The scar on the upper leg has a higher risk of becoming wider than average and therefore healing less neatly.
  • The inner thighs have a higher risk of developing wound healing problems.
