Arm lift
What does an arm lift do?
After weight loss or due to ageing, the skin of the upper arms can become loose. This can lead to hanging skin folds that are often experienced as bothersome. During an arm lift, the surgeon removes this excess skin, restoring a firmer and more toned shape to the arms.
How do I prepare for the procedure?
During the consultation, the surgeon will review your medical history and examine the skin and tissues of the arms. Always mention any medication or supplements you are taking, as some may need to be stopped temporarily. Photographs are often taken to help monitor the results.
How is the procedure performed?
An arm lift is done under general anaesthetic. The surgeon makes an incision along the inner side of the upper arm, sometimes combined with liposuction. Excess skin and fat are removed and the skin is carefully sutured. The scar is usually located on the inside of the arm to keep it as discreet as possible.
Recovery and aftercare
After the procedure, you may experience swelling, bruising and a tight feeling in the arms. You will usually need to wear a compression bandages or elastic sleeves for several weeks to support healing. Your surgeon will provide clear instructions on wound care, when to resume activities and how long to avoid heavy physical activity.
