Social services

Our social services consists of a team of social workers, each linked to one or more hospital departments. This allows us to have a specific impact on the psychosocial care of the patient and their environment. We work in a multidisciplinary way, which means we work together with different departments as well as with various services and organisations outside the hospital.

Both admitted patients and outpatients can contact us for support. Guidance from our social services is free of charge and takes place in complete confidence, with respect for your privacy.

What can we help you with?

During your treatment in our hospital, factors other than physical problems may play a role. Therefore, you and your relatives can contact the social services staff for the following:

  • Help with administration in relation to your illness
  • Preparation for your discharge from hospital
  • Organisation of home care
  • Questions about your hospital admission
  • Information about social services and benefits
  • Psychosocial guidance and support
  • Practical and material questions (e.g. loan equipment, …)
  • Involvement of or referral to other services such as CAW, CAD, OCMW, RVA, …
  • Applications for rehabilitation or a recovery stay
  • Searching for (temporary) care or accommodation in a residential care centre
  • Arranging patient transport

How can you contact us?

Our social services are not located in one specific location in the hospital, but each hospital ward has a social worker linked to it. If you have questions or would like a conversation, you can always contact us. If you make an appointment in advance, we can set aside more time to help you. Contact us directly or you can request our intervention through the doctor or nursing staff of your ward.
