What can we help you with?

Patients are admitted to the intensive care unit for various reasons, following major surgery, a serious accident or life-threatening illnesses (heart attack, pneumonia, etc.). Once they have recovered sufficiently they continue their recovery in another department.

In the intensive care unit, there is a high level of monitoring and medical follow-up of patients 24 hours a day. The team at your service here are doctors and nurses with specific skills in providing these intensive care services. Due to the need for continuous follow-up, camera surveillance is also provided in this department as part of the care. You will receive more information about this in the ward itself and can also discuss this with the nurses.

Specific visiting arrangements for intensive care

Given the severity of the illness and the continuous observation of the patient, the ward is forced to limit patient visits to twice a day. A first visit after admission to our intensive care unit, is possible, in consultation with the head nurse, to deviate from the normal visiting hours, if necessary.

Visiting hours below may differ, according the government guidelines (COVID-19, ...) therefore always check de laatste richtlijnen.

Visiting someone in ICU?

You can sign in by pressing the bell at the ward entrance. A nurse will let you in. A maximum of 3 people will be allowed in the room, the visit is limited to relatives only.

Visitation of children is possible under certain conditions and after consultation with the nursing team. Talk to our nurse, as they can advise parents on how to prepare their child for the visit. With proper mental preparation and guidance, they can come to visit.

Attention

  • If you have a cold or have recently experienced an infection, please notify the nurse in advance.
  • If circumstances prevent you from complying with the visitation schedule, please notify the head nurse so we can look for an alternative.
  • Please turn off your cell phone on our ward at all times.
  • For hygienic reasons, flowers, plants, gifts and food are not allowed.

Reanimation

When breathing or heartbeat suddenly stops, CPR is used. By means of drastic action, we will get it going again. Acting quickly is crucial, as the brain can only go without oxygen for a short time.
