Au sein de Sint-Trudo Ziekenhuis nous travaillons avec un programme de récupération multidisciplinaire pour les personnes ayant reçu une prothèse d'épaule. L'objectif est de vous permettre de retrouver une fonctionnalité maximale le plus facilement possible.

Comment pouvons-nous vous aider?

Votre sortie sera préparée en étroite collaboration avec l'équipe (orthopédiste, infirmières, kinésithérapeute, ergothérapeute, assistante sociale) et les prestataires de soins primaires tels que le médecin généraliste, le kinésithérapeute et l'infirmière à domicile. Dans le mois précédant votre admission, vous aurez l'occasion d'assister à une séance d'information au cours de laquelle vous recevrez plus d'informations sur la préparation de votre opération et de votre hospitalisation. Il peut s'agir d'une séance d'information physique à l'hôpital ou d'une vidéo transmise par e-mail par l'équipe soignante.

Que sont les suppléments de chambre?

Les suppléments de chambre sont des frais que l'hôpital peut facturer pour un traitement ou un séjour en chambre individuelle. Vous pouvez trouver le montant correct dans la déclaration d'admission. Vous devez régler vous-même les frais et les suppléments de chambre, sauf si vous disposez d'une assurance complémentaire hospitalisation qui couvre ces frais. En cas de doute, il est préférable de se renseigner auprès de votre compagnie d'assurance.

Do I need to make sure that the surgical area is shaved myself?

No, shaving is not necessary for everyone. If it is nevertheless necessary, it is done in the hospital to prevent cuts.

Where can I get the Isobetadine Uniwash® soap?

The Isobetadine Uniwash® soap is available in pharmacies without a prescription. Instructions for use can be found on our website.

I have to bring my own medication... Does this mean that I also have to take my own medication during the admission in hospital?

No, you will be administered medication daily by a nurse. Bringing your own medication is requested to carefully review your medication list with the nurse and have any personal preparations in stock. Therefore, please bring your medication in its original packaging.

May I wear pajamas during the day or am I required to wear clothes during the day?

Nightwear is worn only during the night. Since you will be actively working on your rehabilitation during the day, it is best to wear a sporty, comfortable outfit.

Will the nurse call my family when I return after surgery?

Your family should first try to contact you in your room. There is a telephone provided in your room and use of your own device is also allowed. If there are any questions, the nursing unit can be contacted by phone. This can be done at the phone number 011 69 98 00. The code word will be requested prior to this call.

Am I required to provide a hospital bed on the ground (0) floor if my bedroom is on a different floor?

No, providing a hospital bed is not a necessity. Climbing stairs is taught during your stay in the hospital. When in doubt, you can always raise this question with the physiotherapist or occupational therapist, so that social services can be contacted if necessary (e.g. if you already had trouble climbing stairs before the operation, ...).

How can I sign up for outpatient rehabilitation at the hospital?

If you would like to come to the hospital for physical therapy after returning home, it is best to mention this during your pre-admission visit. If you make this decision at a later time (during the admission or after the surgery), it is best to let the physiotherapist know. This way, your appointment can still be arranged.
