sint-Trudo Hospital's clinical laboratory plays an important role in the diagnosis and follow-up of patients. Reliable and accurate examination results are essential for this. That is why the lab operates according to strict international quality standards.
Since the summer of 2019, the clinical biology laboratory has been accredited to the international standard ISO 15189. This means that its activity is regularly monitored by BELAC, the Belgian government accreditation organisation. This is an additional quality label for our lab, in addition to the mandatory accreditation by Sciensano.
At the end of last year, the laboratory was again thoroughly evaluated, for the second time according to ISO 15189:2022, the most recent and stricter quality standard for medical laboratories. This involved not only a review of the entire quality system, but also a technical assessment of a number of specialised molecular diagnostic tests.
The clinical laboratory successfully passed this audit. For patients, this is an important confirmation that analyses and test results are performed reliably, carefully and according to the highest quality standards at Sint-Trudo Hospital.
